A note from Mom:

We just finished our week in Carlsbad California. We missed Chad so much!! But, we took this family picture of us on the beach........ all in Chad's boardshorts. HA! When I went to go get them to pack I realized that Chad has 27, yes twenty-seven, pairs of boardshorts. It would have been great to have brought every pair and have a huge group of strangers on the beach with us, all in his shorts. But ..... This was pretty good. Here we are with Chad's cousin Brittany and her friend Melinna.

Sounds like you guys had fun even without me! The pics looked great! I loved the pic of MY boardshorts! Which I want YOU to send me some!!! Jaja! Dad looks skinny! Nicole looks super old!!! Jaja! You look good Mom. You look happy! :) Did you guys see any good sunsets! I was hoping for a pic but...nada! The pic with Cessey didnt come out. Please send it again.

This week we worked super hard once again! We found a new family saturday night. It was like 8:30 and we were kncoking doors. We found this family of 5! Sweet!!! The Dad told us that he felt like he was missing something in his life. They accepted a babtismal date and told us they would come to church the next day! It was sweet! But....they didnt come to church! We had 0 people in the church once again! I dont know whats going on! Were working hard and doing activites to remind them for church but...nada! Were just trying to trust in the Lord :)

UGH!!! My companion! He is such a stiff robot missionary! He does everything correct!!! Monday night we usually go to the Familia Aviles for a family home evening. There awesome! We go there becuase its PDay and its usually like 8 :30. So after the district meeting we went to there house. But there wasnt a non-member there. So my companion said o well were just stopping by to say hi and then were going to go knock doors!!! The hermana was like o sit down we ordered pizza and were just about to start! He was like o thank you but no. were going to go knock doors! They were so upset, but since there was no investigator we couldnt stay.! I was so pissed! We knocked 3 doors and then walked home. which was 20 min away. We could have ate food, asked for a referral and showed our love for them, but no! UGGHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is so hard!!! He dosnt like to go to talk with members! I dont get it, how does he expect to recieve referals from them when he dosnt even want to go to there houses!

So anyway....im trying my best to be happy and to love my time with him here! (Hopefully I get transfered in 4 weeks!) This week was hard. Its hard to be happy with a crappy companion. He talks alot in the lessons. So its hard for me to put my effort to teach. "Dont worry;Be happy"....right???? Im trying.

Well I miss ya mamma! I thought about ya guys lots this week! Tell Dad I love him and want a letter soon. So tell him he needs to start thinking about it! Haha! Tell binny I said I miss her! Lots! and To Be HappY! Well Miss ya moma! Love ya!

E-mail #32: Im good! Little home sick...or Cali sick.

A note from Mom:

Well, we are here in sunny California soaking up the Cali sunshine. It is absolutely gorgeous, but we are missing our Chad SO much!!! Chad IS California, and it seems so strange to be here without him. We have been coming to Carlsbad for 17 years. Chad, with his amazing personality, met people everywhere we went here, and they all ask us where he is or how he is. We brought a handful of pictures to show people, and they certainly do a lot of laughing and pointing..... They miss him too. The beginning of our vacation was full because Chad's cousin, Kandus, got married in San Diego to Shaka Johnson. They had a beautiful wedding right on the bay with the water behind them. It was so beautiful !! This is the first week that Chad has not sent ANY pictures. (What a good boy !) So - I am feeling deprived. Love that boy !!!

Whats up Mama?

Cali! Ugh!!! I wish! But yes, Im here in Paradise! Haha Sounds like the wedding was awesome! I wanna do that :) The condo looks beautiful!!! I cant wait to go! I got a letter from Grandma last week. She was worried about where she would sleep in Cali! Haha.

My new companion is such a ROBOT!!! He is so freaken stiff! Ugh! We dont talk much like Elder Castañeda and I used to. He only has 3 months left, so he wants to work super hard. I dont have a problem with that, but its ALL about baptisms for him. He doesnt bond with the investigators. Just Book of Mormon! Baptism! Pray! So, I dont know, Im trying to have a good attitude and be happy! :) We worked super hard last week! We found 12 new people with dates to be babtized but nobody came to church! :(

I dont have any new pics this week,because I dont get to mess around with this new guy! Ill try to take pics this week :)

Other than that Im good! Little home sick...or Cali sick. Haha but Im okay! Ive been reading "The continuous Atonement" Its really good! I like it alot! Not much more to say..work work work!

E-mail #31: I love it when it rains!!! It gets nice and cool!

Whats up mama!

Elder Castañeda left. I have a new companion. His name is Elder Guerro. He is from Hidalgo, México. He has 21 months in the mission and probably will finish his mission here. He is cool. I have heard stories that he is kinda a robot but its all good. Im excited to work with him. Hopefully we will have lots of success here and have lots of fun! I miss Elder Castañeda a little. Who would have thought after 3 months, were good friends. He is a great missionary!

So this week was good! Well the beginning was good. The end was like ughhhh.....transfers! But we had a descent week. We dont have many investigators right now :( But we have lots of Faith to be able to find people this week :)

On tuesday we got a call from President. He said "Im comming to your house in 2 hours for interviews" We rushed to clean the house a little bit. My interview with him was so good! We actually talked! I told him what my problems were and what I want in my mission. He told me stories and scriptures. The main thing he said was "Just do your best" That made me feel really good! This interview was really good! Im starting to love him more and more. Haha!

In Mérida, it rains alot in June and July! So off and on it rains alot! I love it when it rains!!! It gets nice and cool! Its always hot! Like back home but my body is getting used to the humidity...I sweat ALL day! Haha! But its all good. I need to eat better cause I dont think Im losing any more weight! :( But my new companion likes to work out, so I think were going to start running in the mornings :)

I got my package yesterday :) Thanks for the books, hopefully I will read them! It was so great to hear from the ward! I miss them all! But the only thing missing in my package was my boardshorts :((( Por favor!!! Haha But thanks :) Loved it!

Whats up with Adam Mackey? Is he going on a mission? It was nice to hear from Shelbey. I think he wants to serve a mission! Qué bueno!

E-Mail #30: This is truly why Im here. "To give people happiness"

Hey Mama!

BAPTISM!!!! Yea! We baptised Jorge on Friday. I baptised him! It is so nice to have a baptism. Its like a re-boost in the mission. It was seriously the most beautiful baptism that I have had in the mission. :) We made a wonderful program, the wife said the opening prayer. The talks were super good and Elder Castañeda played the guitar and a hermana sang Nearer my God to thee. I think I dont know the hymn ... only in spanish! Haha! But yea it was sweet!!! It was so awesome! After, when we were changing in the bathroom I asked how he felt. He told me with a soft and calm voice. "I feel so peacful" :) It was one of my favorite moments in the mission :D This is truly why Im here. "To give people happiness" UGH! So sweet! Then Sunday Elder Castañeda confirmed him.

But besides that the week was crappy! We didnt really do much cause it rained ALL week. You would think people are nicer when it rains and when ya knock doors people would let you in....NOT! The people dont come outside when it rains, not even to open the doors! UGH! So that was crappy! O AND we didnt have electrcity all week long! The secretaries didnt pay the bill! UGH! But the baptism was good :D Haha

I got a letter from Prez. Jimmy. It was soooo good! :) I miss him alot! I also got a letter from Haji and Lisa Geiser. I love her! She is the best! It was really nice to here from haji! I miss my friends! :( But the time is flying!!!! 9 days and I will have 9 months!!! The elders here say that the first year is slow then the 2nd is sooo fast! Well its all going soooo fast! Wow!!!! When does Monson come home? I read his letters almost every week. he doesnt even seem like he is coming home soon! Que bueno! :)

Thats so sweet! The missionaries are workin hard in our ward! One thing we have the members do if they live by an investigator is pass by on there own time and just say hi! Your doin good mama! :) Have they asked you to go with them?

Well mama Im doing good! Im happy and transfers are next week! Who knows what will happen! Castañeda and I are really good! But he really wants to leave. I was supposed to have an interview with President today cause he wants to talk but he bailed out an hour and half before it. Its okay. I email him every week. :) Anyways gotta go to the post office to mail some letters! Love ya! Tell Dad I love em and dont eat to much cause when I get back Ill be skinnier than him! Haha! Love ya! I LOVE THE MISSION!
